Doit is a retired US Army officer. He flew as an aviator in Viet Nam, and
served as Chief Instructor at the US Army Maintenance Test Pilots School, Ft
Eustis, VA. After retirement from the US Army he flew helicopters off of
tuna boats in the South Pacific until he was grounded due to loss of
hearing. He then worked as a Driver Trainer for J.B. Hunt Transport,
training new drivers over-the-road to give them "road sense" prior to them being
assigned their own truck. In this capacity during the timeframe of
1986-1989 Doit made over 100 trips to the west
coast.
During
his tenure as a driver for J.B. Hunt, he founded a Christian Ministry to and for
the drivers on the road. This Ministry was named the "J.B. Hunt
Lighthouse Team". On 17 June 1994 he was ordained to Christian
Service, and remains a Minister of the Gospel, licensed in the State of
West Virginia.
Donna
always a mother & home maker worked out of the home twice. One year as the
Secretary at the Fredericks Jr. High School, Fredericks, OK, and again for
approximately five years as a clerk in Michels Drug Store, West Union, WV.
However her primary mission was and has always been that of a mother, housewife,
friend, confident & companion to her family and friends. She has always
performed superlatively all of these duties and now relishes the role of
"Mam-Maw".
The Web
Master has received much advice relative the composition of this web site.
Therefore, to try to accomodate everyone, he is going to attempt to convert it
to a new format, so we might chronicle our travels (hopefully with photos), and
you can respond. To respond just click on the underlined e-mail address at the
top of the page. This way the responses will be private to us. Hope to have this
new system up and running just as soon as the Web Master can absorb "Web Pages
For Dummies!".
The Summer is almost
gone and the feel of Autumn is in the air on Lick Run. We have had a very good
summer, and the Lord continues to bless us beyond measure. After a 35 year hiatus
we have returned to motorcycles. Doit had originally thought that we would ride
and travel only, but the Lord seems to project us in another direction. We have been connected (divinely we believe) with the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA).
While we like the christian fellowship it is the ministry of the CMA that is drawing
us. If any of you have an interest in motorcycles and christian ministry,
we would wholeheartedly encourage you to go to
www.cmausa.org and consider the CMA.
Had a wonderful visit
with three of our grandchildren for almost two weeks, and it is a blessing for us to
be able to watch them grow and develop. Their mother and father are doing a
masterful job of parenting in our estimation. Our daughter Dana visited from out
west, and that was especially joyful for us also.
This fall we have a
grandchildren sitting appointment for several days. Then we plan to travel to Arkansas
for the CMA "Changing of the Colors" which is the annual event capping CMA's year.
Of course there is the holiday season just ahead, and there is much to do in our
church. We stay engaged on a daily basis and love the lifestyle the Lord has so
graciously allowed us to live.
